2025 was a year of disruption and acceleration. Companies navigated tighter power markets while AI capabilities advanced quickly from experimentation into production, reshaping how physical systems are built and operated.
We saw these dynamics play out across our portfolio as our companies drove distributed energy at scale, delivered data center infrastructure on compressed timelines, and embedded AI directly into real-world operations.
We explored these themes through our events that brought together founders, operators, and investors to learn alongside one another. At the same time, we focused on engaging with and producing content that sharpened our perspective as the market evolved.
This is our 2025 Wrapped — a snapshot of some of our portfolio’s incredible achievements, community connections, and content that shaped our thinking in 2025. Cheers to 2026!
5 Notable Portfolio Achievements:
Our portfolio companies showed up in a big way this year, these highlights capture just a fraction of the work happening across the platform…
- Pushing Distributed Renewable Energy Forward: 1Komma5° broke the 100 million euro mark for orders for the first time in October to support the rise of distributed renewable energy (Link)
- Driving the Data Center Revolution: Crusoe’s flagship Abilene data center went live in September after less than <1 year of construction (Link)
- Enabling Efficiency in a World of Increasing AI : Cast AI introduced ‘Container Live Migration’ which enables zero downtime for stateful kubernetes workloads (Link)
- Supporting American Manufacturing: AssetWatch accelerated growth with the close of their $75M Series C investment in April to keep American machines up and running (Link)
- Reducing Risk in an Age of Overburdened Grids: In February, AiDASH unveiled CRISTM 2.0 to help utilities prevent wildfires before they ignite (Link)
5 Great Events Where We Got to Connect:
This year was all about getting out in the world and connecting with our community.
- Another Great Year of FORGE: FORGE 2025 brought together a group of 100 deep tech founders, investors, and innovators across aerospace, defense, robotics, climate tech, and hardware sectors to exchange ideas and form lasting connections in the beautiful Ojai Valley. Thanks to our partners, Stifel Venture Banking, Ubiquity Ventures, Goodwin, and Sequoia!

- G2’s Inaugural Climate Cup: We hosted our first-ever Climate Cup in May! From tee times at Del Monte, Spyglass, and Spanish Bay to discussions on the policy landscape, the energy transition in both the US and EU, and what’s forthcoming for climate tech, we had an incredible time with all the founders, investors and friends in the climate space. Special thank you to our sponsors SVB, CSC Leasing, and Mintz, for making this all possible!

- SF Climate Week Event: At our SF Climate Week event this year on the historic Klamath Ferry, Nat Bullard put the last two decades in perspective when he reminded everyone in the room that wind power in the U.S. grew from 11 GW in 2005 to 130 GW last year and solar went from just 1 GW to nearly 600 GW over the same period — far beyond even the most optimistic scenarios at the time. To see a preview of Nat’s talk, check out our Linkedin post here.

- Brains & Bots: At our physical AI happy hour this summer, we got to connect with builders who are reimagining traditional industries and creating measurable impact at scale. The Bay Area deep tech ecosystem continues to inspire us! Huge thanks to our co-hosts NGP Capital and Stifel Bank.

- G2 Portfolio Hackathon: We hosted our inaugural hackathon in Austin for our portfolio companies to talk, build, and iterate in real time on AI tools that are solving real business problems. Grateful to webAI for hosting and to our portfolio companies for their enthusiastic participation.

- NY Tech Week: G2 & Forum co-hosted an event at NY Tech Week for the first time this year. It was great to connect with our NY network of investors, founders, and collaborators to talk about what really matters at every stage of the capital stack in a rapidly changing investment landscape. Special thanks to our panelists Naomi @ Forum, Susannah @ AlleyCorp, Andrew @ Bessemer, James @ a16z and our host Kevin @ Cooley
